Private-sector employment in the UAE is mainly governed by the federal Labour Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, as amended) and its implementing regulations, administered by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. Free zones such as DIFC and ADGM have their own employment regulations.

These guides are written for both employees and employers. They explain common documents and disputes in general terms and avoid conclusions about any individual case.

Where to start

Employees can read employee rights in the UAE. Employers can begin with employer legal consultation. Anyone about to sign should read employment contract review.
